Zaragoza
Zaragoza is a liberal and welcoming city, the result of the influence of the four cultures that have marked its character: Iberian; Roman; Arabic; and Christian. Capital of Aragon, it has all the attractions of a modern, populous city, but its appeal lies in the fact that it has been left relatively untouched by foreign tourism. Those who take the time to visit it, however, are never disappointed.
Medieval streets and broad avenues make up a city with an open and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Cultural wealth that, when speaking of cuisine, transforms itself into mouth-watering recipes. Aragon cooking is superb and the old town is full of traditional restaurants. Attractions in the city include the Aljaferia castle -the greatest Moorish edifice outside Andalucia-, the Roman Forum and Theatre, and the Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar, one of the most famous sanctuaries of the Virgin Mary in the world, with its beautiful neo-Classical facade, four slender towers on the top, and domes painted by Goya.
